Please keep the people of La Palma in your prayers and on your mind. No matter whether or not the volcano causes a MegaTsunami, these people have been devastate. Their lives will NEVER be the same. It will take years to regain what has been lost. PLEASE, if you are able, send donations. DO NOT SEND THEM TO THE RED CROSS or THE GOVERNMENT. CORRUPTIONS IS RAMPANT. FIND a group of local people who are helping people in their local areas. It will take some digging to find them. BUT GOD WILL BLESS YOU! Remember that this has already been going on for a long time and it is no where near over yet. FUNDS AND SUPPLIES RUN OUT FAST. When there is nothing to share, there is no way to extend aid and assistance. PLEASE DON’T FORGET THEM. HELP THEM IF YOU CAN!
Here are some places you can start. Find a group that you trust. Better yet, ASK GOD to lead you to those who need the help, and those who will be sure to get it to them. BE SAFE, BE WELL AND BE BLESSED. KEEP WATCHING AND KEEP LOOKING UP!
WHERE TO SEND DONATIONS:
I am not vouching for the honesty and integrity of the following, they are the only places I could find online, where you can send donations. Pray before you send them that GOD will be in control of getting them to those in need.
PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE FUNDING ACCOUNTS:
El Paso, La Palma, Canary Islands / Emergencies
People have lost their homes but also their ongoing income. In La Palma, many families live on the proceeds of their banana plantations, which they were able to plant on old lava flows thanks to money brought back from Cuba and Venezuela by their fathers and grandfathers who emigrated there to earn a living during hard times. Turning lava fields into plantations was backbreaking work, and involved levelling the terrain and transporting soil from forested areas. Overnight, they have been destroyed by advancing lava flows. Some 50% of the island’s economy is related directly or indirectly to bananas. Just replacing people’s lost homes will not be enough to mitigate for this economic loss.
We are working with SAMU, a local photographer who has been documenting the eruption each night from a friend’s rooftop with a telescopic lens. He himself has been evacuated as his own house is so close to the lava and in danger of being swallowed at any moment.
We offered to pay SAMU for using his photos, but he didn’t want any money for himself – rather he asked us to raise money directly to help other local families around him that have lost everything in the volcanic emergency.
We are grateful for all donations, large or small. £5 could buy a volcano safety kit including goggles, FFP2 face mask and hand sanitiser. Larger donations will help towards replacing items families have lost in the emergency. Donations and acquisitions will be itemised, documented and published for full transparency.
Using the hashtag #SamuLaPalma we will be publishing a photo of his every day on Instagram (@GeoTenerife) until the end of the month, and asking anyone wanting to support La Palma to make a donation to this JustGiving account.
We will travel to La Palma at the end of the month and present Samu with the proceeds, and follow up on specifically how they are used via our social media channels (Twitter and Instagram: GeoTenerife).
MEDIA OUTLETS/PHOTO AGENCIES: A range of unpublished, high resolution images and videos are available for publication and broadcast. Please contact sharonbackhouse@geotenerife.com if interested.
PUBLIC: If reposting images we have already published, please credit @GeoTenerife @samu_bali #SamuLaPalma and consider making a donation here with a message of support for the people of La Palma.
Thank you from all the GeoTenerife team, Samu and the people of La Palma.

La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain Emergencies
In two weeks, we have collected £2,730 – 5% of our ambitious target. Juanpe and I are very grateful for all the support you are giving us, and we believe that together we can achieve the target and help the affected people to start a new life. Please keep sharing this message and help us help these people. We cannot imagine what their suffering could feel like.
Where will the funds go?
The funds collected will go to the official account of the city council of El Paso, which is the village where the volcano eruption is taking place. They are currently in charge of handling the funds to help the victims of the volcano.
Being abroad, we are aware that a bank transfer is not always the easiest way to donate. Wherever you are in the world, this platform offers the possibility to donate easily as an online payment. If you prefer, you can always donate to the official accounts directly. What’s important is that the funds get there.
If you want to know more about me, or would like to feel more confident about the legitimacy of this campaign, you can visit my LinkedIn profile.
THANKS for your help!!

CUMBRE VIEJA LOOKS LIKE A JACK-O-LANTERN
Day 36: Lightning strike captured on camera. Oct 24, 2021. AfarTV
Halloween
Posted By sheila on October 30, 2020
Halloween is not a traditional Spanish fiesta. Ten years ago, it was something the children learned about in English classes. But you know, kids love a chance to dress up, and they especially love an opportunity for legalised begging (and I was just the same). Naturally they love the idea of Halloween, and so do the shop keepers (obviously). And slowly, Halloween is becoming more popular. Don’t be too surprised to see pumpkins, or to find pint-sized zombies and witches ringing the doorbell.
Years ago when i was a classroom assistant I decided to make the jack o’ lantern early and take it to school. Then it seemed like a good idea to make myself a paper witches hat and wear black. At my son’s suggestion I took a broom and wrote FIREBOLT 2000 on it (that was a huge success) .
I felt a bit conspicuous going to work since back then, nobody dressed up for Halloween. Oh well, it wasn’t like anyone would see me taking the six steps from the front door to the car. So I put the hat on, picked up the jack o’lantern with one hand and the broomstick with the other and set forth.
The bus sailed past. Absolutely full since it was morning rush hour. Goodness knows what they all thought, but I hope I made people happy.

Apparently the TOURISM for La Palma is restored to good health. There is no shortage of thrill seekers looking to witness the event of a lifetime. So, don’t worry about the tourism industry in La Pala. However, there are thousands of people left with nothing. Homes, vehicles, businesses, real estate, ALL GONE. So, if you want to help them, please send assistance to any group of your choice. Personally, I do not recommend Red Cross or Government or “Globar” organizations if you want your donations to really get to those in need. I have posted some options for Local to Local charitable groups in the upper portion of this post. Pray, and let GOD lead.

Have you noticed there is a great deal of talk about the CREATOR and spiritual things in relation to this situation. Many of those posting the updates are praying and reading scripture on their videos. I am so glad to see and hear people talking about my GOD!!
However, if you are counting on GOD to stop this volcano, I doubt that will happen. I believe HE is warning us that this thing is going to progress onward to create the threatened Tsunami. Pray for GOD to protect you, lead you to safety, give you a clear plan. Pray that GOD’s WILL be done in this situation. Pray that many will come to know HIM through it all.

SURELY LOOKS LIKE DEMONIC FORMS/ENTITIES ARE RISING FROM THE PIT OF HELL!! Interestingly, at the time of year when many believe the veil between us and the realm of the spirit is the thinnest. When sacrifices (especially human sacrfices) are made in the hope to connect with those demonic spirits, are are summoning them to our realm to perform heinous deeds.

EMERGENCY ALERT!!!!!!! 5.1 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE STRIKES LA PALMA!!!!! FIRST EARTHQUAKE ABOVE 5.0!!!!
spacer
First quake above magnitude 5 while lava activity is strong
Half an hour ago, the island was shaken by a strong magnitude 5.1 quake at 39 km depth beneath the center of Cumbre Vieja at 7.24 a.m. local time. This is the strongest-so-far tremor since the start of the seismic crisis and volcanic eruption in September.
While volcanic tremor is very high and bright glow from the eruption site indicates that activity also is elevated, this quake could mean that yet another pulse of magma from a deep source is under way; if so, activity might increase in the course of the day.
Increasing volcanic tremor, latest data on lava volume
Seismic activity has been very high with over 200 quakes between magnitudes of 2.5-4.2 during the latest 24 hours alone. In the past hours, tremor amplitude has increased although visible activity has not, as far as can be judged from often cloudy webcam views.
The latest data on the eruption indicate a magma discharge rate of approx. 66 cubic meters per second,a remarkably high value given the eruption is now well into its second month. It now totals nearly 230 million cubic meters, or a quarter of a cubic kilometer, of lava added to the island in volume, about as much as the large 1991-93 flank eruption of Mt Etna that threatened the village of Zafferana back then…
On top of the lava, the eruption releases approx. 16,350 tons of sulphur dioxide per day.
Quakes picking up again
Earthquakes under the volcano seem to be on the increase again. During the past hour alone, 4 quakes of magnitudes greater than 3 have occurred at depths of 10-12 km. The largest at magnitude 3.9 at 9.38 a.m., about 30 minutes ago, was widely felt.
Moderate magnitude 4.5 earthquake 18 km southeast of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Spain
06:34 AM | BY: EARTHQUAKEMONITOR
A magnitude 4.5 earthquake near Santa Cruz de La Palma, La Palma Island, Canary Islands, Spain, was reported only 9 minutes ago by Spain’s Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenterin the morning on Saturday, October 30th, 2021, at 7:24 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.5 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Mazo (pop. 4,800) located 16 km from the epicenter, Breña Baja (pop. 4,200) 18 km away, Brena Alta (pop. 7,100) 18km away, and Santa Cruz de La Palma (pop. 17,100) 18 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Garachico (pop. 6,000) located 26 km from the epicenter, El Paso (pop. 7,100) 27km away, Los Llanos de Aridane (pop. 20,800) 31 km away, and Tazacorte (pop. 5,700) 32 km away.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.

La Palma volcano eruption update: activity a bit calmer today, but lava flows make more progress
19:17 PM | BY: T
Following the surge of activity yesterday, the eruption has been a bit calmer today, relatively speaking. Lava fountaining and lava flow effusion continue with impressive force at the vent.
The eruption column was still rising to 3000 m today, but the prevailing trade wind regime dissipates it to the SW, which is why the airport has been operational at least most of the time. In downwind areas near the vents, however, thick ash fall is increasingly a problem, threatening roofs etc to collapse, destroying farmland, gardens and making ways impassable.
Lava flows advance
The latest data for the area covered by lava was published as 905,46 hectares earlier today, 48 more than yesterday. Unfortunately, this illustrates that active lava fronts have made more progress in the past 24 hours, especially along the southern margin of the flow field, where lava is about to destroy the remaining houses of Todoque:

Ground deformation has returned to levels a few days ago – likely, the elevated activity in the past 48 hours has “emptied” the excess magma volume that seems to have had accumulated at depth, causing the recent ground uplift.
Volcanic tremor is likely a bit less as well, but the National Geographic Institute’s (IGN) TBT station data has no longer been available, at least not publicly on their site; it can be hoped that the station is not damaged and will be back online soon.

Updated lava flow field map
The Rapid Mapping Team of the Copernicus project released the 34th update on the map of the area covered by new lava, totaling now 908.2 hectares as of 26 October at 07:08 UTC.
The good news is that the larger the lava field is, the more likely it is that new lava will rather be added on top of it instead of covering new areas. In fact, the activity at the sides of the lava flow field has slowed down; only about 1.9 hectares were covered by new lava flows and no new buildings damaged during a 24 hours interval.
Enrique / VolcanesyCienciaHoy on facebook posted a very informative new lava flow map shown below.
Lava flow (or lobe) 9C has developed 3 arms. One of them, the one located more to the north, traveled about 450 m since yesterday’s position and is likely going to reach the ocean in the course of this evening, destroying on its way banana fields. The flow destroyed the SPAR supermarket in La Laguna, but fortunately only few other structures.
As to the northern flow (10A and 10B), the flow fronts appear to have stopped. The flow arm 10C, which advanced a lot yesterday has almost stopped, advancing only a few tens of meters.
New lava outbreaks have appeared in the highest part of the flow field; the most energetic of which is shown as 10D arm.

Just a few hours ago, lava was currently 800m from sea and residents in La Palma have been told to stay indoors.
Meanwhile, the lava flow has accelerated in the descent from the Mountain of Tres Picos in Tazacorte, after coming down the Pampillo Core and has also buried the La Costa highway, the last connection to the Southwest of the Island from the Aridane Valley.
There are fears that if the lava from the La Palma volcano reaches the sea it will react to create clouds of toxic vapour full of hydrochloric acid.@RLCotterill has the latest.

The streets of La Palma have been stained grey and black for a week due to the ash falling from the Cumbre Vieja volcano, causing serious problems to the citizens and generating a threat for October, when the rains will arrive on the island.
The lava from the La Palma volcano has entered the banana plantation area and has burned plastics from greenhouses and fertilizers (NOT WATER TANKS), creating a toxic cloud. According to authorities the gas is already diluted…
Spain’s Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) has detected six earthquakes in the area affected by the volcanic eruption of Cumbre Vieja, on La Palma, with a maximum recorded magnitude of 2.9 in a seismic movement that occurred 10 kilometers deep… Is a new vent about to open in the tsunami prone area?

‘SOS!’ Volcano hit La Palma message for tourists after ‘massive cancellations’
LA PALMA in the Canary islands has issued an urgent call for more tourists
LA PALMA in the Canary islands has issued an urgent call for more tourists despite the devastating volcanic eruption on the island. The ‘SOS’ appeal comes after the island’s hotels’ rooms are now just 15 percent full.
Tourism bosses on the island said La Palma is a “safe, attractive destination” despite the volcano’s destruction. As the lava overflowed the volcano, 981 buildings were damaged although there were no fatalities.
La Palma tourist representatives said the island has experienced “massive cancellations” in bookings since the eruption.
The volcano erupted on September 19 but has continued to wreak havoc since thenas it has journeyed slowly to the sea.
Hotels on the island are now just 15 percent full as many tourists cancelled upcoming trips due to the volcano.
In a statement, the Insular Centre for Tourism Initiatives said: “We are being forced to react. There is going to be a clear downward trend in the coming months.
“The looming panorama is of layoffs, the end of furlough for dozens of workers and even the possibility of closing hotel and non-hotel accommodation.”
The Centre said that many families and local people relied on the tourism industry and would be hard hit if tourists stayed away.
They said “tourism is key” in the areas of Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso and in Tazacorte on the island.
Well, now those of you who are so convinced there is NO RISK of a Tsunami, why don’t you take a trip to La Palma. Book your vacation immediately and help renew their tourism. I mean, if you are convinced that there is nothing to worry about, help them out. They need the income badly!!
Politician Proposes Bombing La Palma Volcano As Eruptions Enter 38th Day
As the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma enters its 38th day, a politician from a neighboring island has raised the idea of dropping bombs on it to divert lava flows.
These flows have caused devastation on La Palma—located in the Canary Island archipelago off the northwest coast of Africa—destroying hundreds of buildings and laying waste to large tracts of land.
Since the eruptions began on September 19, around 7,000 people on the island have had to flee their homes.
While it may seem that there is little that can be done to stop such a powerful force of nature, the president of the nearby island of La Gomera’s municipal council has suggested a drastic solution to divert the lava flows—dropping bombs using aircraft.
In an interview with Canary Island media outlet Radio Faycán, Casimiro Curbelo said: “Isn’t there a plane that flies and can drop… today the technology is very reliable… and boom! And send the lava in a different direction? Maybe it’s madness, but I get the impression from a technological point of view that it should be attempted.”
While this may seem like a fantastical idea, the idea of using explosives to divert lava flows is not totally without precedent. In 1935, for example, the U.S. Army actually tried to bomb lava flows emanating from the Mauna Loa volcano on Hawaii when an eruption threatened the town of Hilo.
The lava flows stopped around a week after the bombing campaign, something which the volcanologist who ordered the air strike held up as proof that the mission had been a success.
But other pilots and geologists expressed skepticism about the impact of the bombing, National Geographic reported. In reality, the rate of lava production from the volcano appeared to have dropped off, coincidentally, around the time of the strikes, providing an explanation for why the flows came to a halt.
Using explosives to divert lava flows was also tried on other occasions in other parts of the world, such as on the Italian island of Sicily during eruptions of Mount Etna.
On Tuesday, the internal cone of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma collapsed, leading to greater emissions from its main vent. Lava flows from the volcano continue to flow to the west of the island toward the Atlantic Ocean, reaching the water in some parts.
Seismologists also recorded a 4.8 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday, which was felt in La Gomera and Tenerife—another neighboring island.
Data from the La Palma local government shows that the Cumbre Vieja eruption has destroyed more than 2,000 buildings, with lava flows now covering an area of around 900 hectares.
Ongoing Volcanic Eruption in Canary Islands Disrupts Flights — See the Footage
An erupting volcano on Spain’s Canary Islands — which boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world — disrupted flights over the weekend, closing down the airport and forcing workers to use umbrellas to protect themselves from falling ash.
By Sunday, the airport on the island of La Palma had reopened after crews cleared the runway of ash, Reuters reported, but flights had remained on pause.
On Monday, volcanic activity had decreased with officials taking a wait-and-see approach, The Associated Press reported. But Binter, the Canary Islands airline, said flights were still not possible.
Over the weekend, stranded travelers unable to get a flight off the island lined up at the port, hoping to board a boat. Ferry operator Fred Olsen Express has said it would add an extra round trip journey between La Palma and Tenerife through at least Wednesday, Reuters reported.
The Cumbre Vieja volcano first started erupting last week, Spain’s first volcanic eruption on land in half a century, according to the AP. So far, it has buried more than 500 buildings and displaced more than 6,000 people.
While activity may have lessened, residents are being advised to stay inside to avoid potential toxic gases that could occur when lava at more than 1,000 degrees Celsius (1,832 Fahrenheit) meets the much cooler Atlantic Ocean water.
The La Palma eruption has been destructive, but no fatalities or serious injuries have been reported, according to the AP.
This isn’t the first time volcanic activity has disrupted flights. In 2010, a volcanic eruption in Iceland halted flights throughout Europe.

Yes, I know this is an old article, but it was worth posting here to demonstrate the there is legitimate concern that has been expressed by governments and scientists across the Earth
Tenerife fears: How La Palma volcano eruption could trigger mega-tsunami
TENERIFE would be hit by a tsunami less than an hour after an eruption occurred on its neighbouring island, in a devastating natural disaster that could produce waves three times higher than ever recorded.
We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. This may include adverts from us and 3rd parties based on our understanding. You can unsubscribe at any time. More info
The Cumbre Vieja volcano is located on the island of La Palma, just a few hundred metres off the shore of Tenerife and is part of an active, albeit currently dormant, volcanic ridge. It has erupted twice in the last seven decades, first in 1949 and then 1971, but over the last few years, thousands of tremors have rumbled from the giant, leading scientists to fear it could erupt in the future. Researchers say a volcanic eruption would not only cause devastation for the Canary Islands from the initial blast but could trigger a vast undersea landslide, too.
This would set off a tsunami wave capable of inundating coastal regions thousands of kilometres away, as well as devastating the islands eastwards within 15 minutes to an hour.
The warning came from Dr Steven Ward, of the University of California, US, and Dr Simon Day, of the Benfield Greig Hazard Research Centre at University College London, UK.
Writing in Geophysical Research Letters, they refined an earlier estimate of the likely consequences of the collapse of the western flank of the volcano.
They believe a build-up of groundwater could destabilise a block of rock up to 500km in size, which could break off in a future eruption, rushing into the sea at up to 350km an hour (220 mph).
Tenerife could be hit by a tsunami wave
The volcano is located on La Palma
The dome of water it caused would be 900 metres (2,950 feet) high, and the resulting tsunami, higher than any in recorded history, would travel outwards in an arc formation, reaching speeds of 800km an hour (500mph).
Waves 100 metre (330 feet) high would strike the African coast, while north-eastwards they would affect Spain, Portugal and France, and could still be approaching 12 metres (40 feet) when they hit the UK.
That is almost three times the maximum recorded after the Lisbon earthquake of 1755.
Dr Day said the waves striking the UK coast would not penetrate more than two or three kilometres inland.
He told the BBC in 2003: “Weird things happen when tsunamis enter harbours or estuaries.
“If those resonate at a certain frequency, that may substantially increase the damage.”

Scientists fear a future eruption
RELATED ARTICLES
But fears are heightened across the Atlantic, where waves could reach heights of 40 metres (130 feet) heading towards northern Brazil.
Dr Day added: “It’s entirely possible you’d see 50-metre waves coming ashore in Florida, New York, Boston, all the way up to Greenland, and in some cases reaching up to 10km inland.
“And that would be about nine hours or more after the initial collapse.”
But Dr Day said there is no reason to fear just yet.
He reassured that a collapse was unlikely this century, and perhaps for many centuries.
It could take several eruptions to destabilise the volcano enough to dislodge the western flank, and collapse would occur only after days or weeks of seismic activity.
Yellowstone volcano shock: Eruption mantle runs under California [STUDY]
The eruption would send huge waves out
The scientists predicted how the waves may be sent out
He continued: “We think you have to see some evidence of subterranean movement before there’s a risk of collapse.
“The fact that we aren’t seeing any movement gives us a lot of confidence Cumbre Vieja won’t collapse spontaneously.
“But we’ve found that eruptions do tend to come in clusters. And there’ve been two in the recent past.”
Gary McMurty, who works on landslides at the University of Hawaii, says there is no point losing sleep just yet.
He said in 2003: “These events are very rare and shouldn’t worry anyone who has a lifetime of less than a hundred years.”

Sadly they have cut off all the live cameras except those authorized by or owned by the government, so we get very limited views. All the “LIVE” cameras seem to be fed from the same camera. They have taken complete control over what we are allowed to see. The views are very limited and usually to close to allow us to really get an idea of what is going on. Thankfully, the twitter videos give us a longer range view.

2021-10-27 La Palma Eruption Update
La Palma Watchers,There is a bit of good news: no new buildings were damaged or destroyed in the past 24 hours. This is the first time we’ve been able to say this since the lava streams began reaching the populated areas. New lava pouring from the vents currently (subject to change) is pouring out on top of existing lava flows rather than spreading out as much as in earlier flows. There has been especially strong volcanic activity overnight and into the morning hours. Lava fountains from the main vent have been spectacular, reaching heights of approximately 2,000 ft. of hot glowing red lava. One pattern that we saw early in the eruption and which continues to be repeated is that when we see an uptick in earthquakes – within a few hours we see higher volumes of lava and generally higher volcanic activity. In the past two days we have seen multiple quakes reaching into the M4.6-4.9 range. Quakes in this range are felt across the entire island. Two strong M4.8 quakes were reported back-to-back just now as I write this.Yesterday, instrumentation showed a dramatic amount of uplift (ground deformation): 10 cm in 24 hours. If the eruption was waning and the magma chambers emptying, we would expect to see deflation not uplift (inflation). This indicates the eruption is still building (the ground is swelling, i.e. bulging). It has not reached a peak as of yet. But “yet” is a big, little word!Scientists originally suggested that the eruption could last around three weeks. Having surpassed that landmark, we are now near the end of five weeks with no end in sight. Scientists now suggest the eruption could last 3 months. We’ll soon find out, since we are nearly half way there!Watch and see!The Watchman

La Palma volcano eruption update: strong activity this morning comes after uptick in earthquakes
07:45 AM | BY: T
The activity at the vents has strongly increased this morning. Tall lava fountains, reported up to 600 m tall, rise from the main vent, while others produce dense ash and lava spattering. Lava can also be seen flowing on the surface away from the cone.
This seems to correlate with an increase of earthquakes in the last 24 hours, after having being reduced in numbers yesterday. There were 4 quakes between magnitudes 4.0-4.7 alone in addition to 130 ones at magnitudes around 2.5-3.9.
One of the magnitude 4 quakes occurred early this morning at shallow depth of 13 km, which is thought to be the main reservoir of the magma before it rises to the vents.
Quakes precede phases of intensification?
It seems that such upticks of quake activity precedes phases with increased lava supply several hours later. This might fit into the following model: first, magma pressure at depth increases either by surges from new magma arriving there or from temporary blockages in the paths above, preventing a sufficient release of it at the eruption; then, the pressure on the surrounding rocks create new cracks and paths, which shows up as quakes. 3rd, the magma then then rises through new and existing conduits until it reaches the surface hours later.

[17:20h UTC+1] The LP3 station is in the pathway of the rising magma from the chamber to the vulcan. If, due to what reason ever, the pressure in the system rises and can’t be released over the vulcano an inflation of nearby territory is possible. #LaPalma #ErupcionVolcanLaPalma

A new partial collapse of the cone and a break open a new mouth and expose a large source of lava. The volcano has changed its configuration, this Tuesday, October 26, explosive activity predominates. The lava channel runs in a southwesterly direction. It circulates through the already existing casting area. The eruptive process continues active and earthquakes continue to be recorded in the eruption area that can be felt by the population. Sevenroads on the island of La Palma are cut by the eruption of the volcano, reports the General Directorate of Traffic. #RashLaPalma #Volcano #LaPalma #Eruption #collapse #cone #source #lava #Involcan #infrared #thermography #Canary Islands #Tazacorte #The plains #Sunset #coronavirus #covid19 #news #LiveNews #StreamingNews #Spain #spanishnews👉👉 More news: https://www.rtve.es/noticias ➤SUBSCRIBE to RTVE Noticias on YouTube: ✔️Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/rtvenoticias✔️Follow us on Facebook:

Superficial landslide on the colluvi n that cut the LP-2 highway, km 36 and trapped the La Palma firefighters for 2 hours.
+ info: https://bit.ly/3BasUD6
The images show the superficial slipping(20 m high by 0.5 m thick) that occurred on the colluvi n, which affected the masonry wall and cut the LP-2 road, which was under construction, and trapped La Palma firefighters for a couple of hours. On the other hand, up the slope you reach the escarpment of a previous detachment that affected the materials of an old cone.
Images recorded by the #IGME A inmate Work Service (#STA) together with the Emergency and Rescue Group (#GES) of the Canary Islands Government.

Regarding the video that is circulating about the appearance of a dust cloud on the west coast of La Palma, we inform that its origin is due to a collapse in the cliff, possibly caused by the intense seismic activity that affects the island in these last days.

The fajana continues to grow because the lava channels of the main stream are currently active. The reconfiguration of the cone has caused large lava movements that explain the intensification of the tremor, whose values return to levels recorded a month ago. Seismicity has increased at intermediate depths – between 10 and 15 kilometers – and intensity VI earthquakes are not ruled out. The deformation continues to decrease at stations farthest from the eruption core.
La Palma volcano Eruption intensifies, new lava flow to the south. The intensity of the eruption increased. Since the last update, the at least 4 active vents have been generating violent pulses of lava fountains with ash columns rising to approx. 3 km, as well feeding both surface lava flows directly from the vents as well as fueling the hidden-from-view lava tubes that transport most of the lava to active areas of the flow field downslope.

New images under the sea near La Palma show the amount of ash that has landed on the ocean floor. The marine life has been impacted by the ash, and could be threatened going forward.
However, many of these ecosystem will regenerate as they have evolved with volcanic eruption as a normal part of the biologic and environmental process. spacer
spacer EXTREME WEATHER La Palma’s Volcanic Ash Spreads Across AtlanticThe Canary Islands volcano sent an ash plume across the Atlantic right as hurricane season went quiet.By Molly Taft The European Space Agency released fascinating imagery last week showing how the ash plume from the La Palma volcano eruption is charging westward across the Atlantic Ocean. The ash is passing through the atmosphere right at the tail end of peak hurricane season.
Considering that things have been (blessedly) quiet in the Atlantic for the past few weeks with regards to hurricanes, it makes sense to wonder about La Palma’s impact on hurricane season. While the ash is certainly something that can slow down hurricane season, we likely have other factors to blame, though. Scientists at ESA’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service have been tracking the ash plume since the volcano first started erupting in late September. Initially, the plumes of sulfur dioxide from the volcano traveled east from the Canary Islands to northern Africa and southern Europe, eventually getting to parts of northern and western Europe. Thanks to a change in wind direction in early October, though, the plume is now flowing roughly 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) across the Atlantic and over the Caribbean. Since the directional shift, the Atlantic has also gone unseasonably quiet when it comes to hurricanes and tropical storms. There are a lot of factors that go into the formation of hurricanes. Not only do ocean waters need to be warm enough to feed the churning storm (which, thanks to climate change, is happening more and more often), but the air in the atmosphere also needs to be moist and unstable to allow the storm to grow. Any change in the atmospheric conditions–outside factors that make it drier or warmer—can influence how hurricanes form. One notable example of this is dust from the Sahara desert traveling with winds all the way across the Atlantic and toward Mexico. This is actually a pretty regular occurrence and routinely impacts hurricane formation. The dust is accompanied by super dry air, which gets injected into the atmosphere and quiets down any precursors to hurricanes. CAMS actually noted that the arrival of Saharan dust to the Caribbean coincided with the volcano plumes reaching the islands, which resulted in poor air quality in Puerto Rico and other parts of the region in early October.
The role of ash, though, is less well known. Ash is an aerosol, a blanket term for tiny particles that can help clouds form. Salt from the ocean, dust, and manmade pollution are all considered aerosols as well. Dustin Grogan, who works in the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at the University of Albany, said in an email that he wasn’t aware of any research linking volcanic ash to the development of hurricanes. “In general, the sulphates from volcanic ash (or from wildfires) would help promote cloud development in convective systems, such as hurricanes, as they serve as seeds for cloud droplets,” he said. “There are, however, several studies that have investigated aerosol effects on hurricanes associated with dust, originating from the Saharan Desert.” Grogan noted that since the plume has turned towards the Atlantic, “there has been only one storm that has shown potential to produce a hurricane over the Atlantic, and it did not develop,” although he cautioned that he hadn’t fully looked into all the links between the volcano and the stunted storm. He also said that the volcanic plume meeting up with the cloud of dust as they both move westward “may add complexity to teasing out the ash’s contribution on storm development.” Brian McNoldy, a senior research associate at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami, said in an email it was possible “the plume of aerosols from the volcano are fairly high up in the atmosphere and not getting ingested into any prospective disturbances (or hurricanes).” The volcano is still erupting, and even though the plumes are expected to re-circulate back to Europe, hurricane season lasts until November 30. That means there could be more potential for storms, and more opportunities to see—if the winds start blowing the ash to the Atlantic—how the ash plays out. “The end of the hurricane season is also fast approaching,” Grogan said. “So, we will have to wait and see if any other storms develop and interact with the ash.” Other natural factors such as the recently developed La Niña could also play a role. The shift toward cooler ocean temperatures in the eastern tropical Pacific generally eases winds that can shred storms. That means ash and dust or not, there’s still ample time for hurricanes to spin up. spacer |
