A Message in the Events of Today

I would find it hard to believe that there is anyone on the earth today that can look around at what is happening and not be concerned.  Many are wondering just what exactly is going on?  I know they want to blame everything on humans polluting the environment, but seriously folks, what we see today is beyond comprehension.  There is NO WAY that all this can be laid on human consumption or cow flatulence or any of the other nonsense we are being handed.

There is some serious manipulation of our environment going on.  Whether it is by man, Satan and his minions or GOD himself, it is deadly serious and we need to figure out what we can do to make things right again.  If we continue on the course we are on, the end of the WORLD is EXTREMELY NEAR!

Then the heat dome hit. The village of Lytton set a national temperature record of 49.6 C. The next day, it burned to the ground. Vancouver-area emergency services were overrun. The heat killed 362 people in two days – many were seniors sweltering alone at home. The final toll of almost 600 made it the deadliest weather event in Canada’s history.

Then came fires, more heat waves and drought. Thick smoke darkened the sky and choked the air for weeks. Thousands of people fled their homes. Fire ravaged almost 9,000 square kilometres – 1½ times the area of Prince Edward Island and the third-most ever, after 2017 and 2018.

An unusually wet fall followed the blazing dry summer. Last weekend, a historic wallop smashed the province, when an atmospheric river of rain unleashed a torrent of widespread floods and landslides.

The volume of rain – topping out at 252 millimetres in the town of Hope over three days – was likened to a tropical hurricane. Drivers were trapped and needed helicopter rescue. Thousands of people fled, and homes were ruined. Deliveries of goods by rail and fuel by pipeline are halted. The Coquihalla highway, the only four-lane link between Vancouver and the rest of Canada, suffered extensive destruction and will not reopen any time soon.

Extreme heat, fires, drought, record rain, floods: It feels biblical. And it is all interconnected and made worse by climate heating.

The heat dome, climate scientists found, was “virtually impossible” without human-caused global warming. Events of such rarity, they added, “will become a lot less rare.” The powerful heat dries the landscape, making it prone to fire. The fires transform the landscape, making it prone to landslides. Climate heating causes more evaporation, and warmer air holds more moisture, bringing rains to trigger the landslides.

Atmospheric rivers, a normal phenomenon, deliver needed rain to the West Coast from the Pacific Ocean. At extremes, however, they can carry as much water as 15 Mississippi Rivers. Recent research shows that they have already caused US$1.1-billion of annual flood damage in the Western United States, and “modest increases in atmospheric river intensity could lead to significantly larger economic impacts.”

B.C. is in the eye of these storms, but the consequences of climate heating are being felt coast to coast to coast. Canada is heating twice as fast as the global average; there will be extreme heat risk on the Prairies and in Ontario and Quebec in the coming years, according to the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo. The No. 1 thing to do is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as quickly and as soon as possible. But adaptation and resilience will also be essential – and expensive.

Preparation is key. Flood damage is especially costly, yet the Intact Centre’s assessment of cities’ preparedness is rated C+, the same as five years earlier. Alert systems are a must, but B.C. this year has consistently failed to adequately warn citizens of the potential severity of immediate threats. The NDP government hasn’t once used the direct-to-cellphone Alert Ready system.

Infrastructure needs to be hardier. In the United States, the new infrastructure bill includes US$47-billion for climate resilience. That’s a big number. But the average cost of U.S. climate disasters – US$121-billion a year from 2016 through 2020 – indicates the daunting scale of the challenge.

Ottawa’s latest budget included an additional $1.4-billion for Infrastructure Canada’s disaster mitigation and adaptation fund, which launched in 2018 with $2-billion over a decade. It’s not a lot, especially compared with the cost of recent Canadian disasters. The 1998 ice storm in Quebec cost $6.7-billion, and the 2016 Fort McMurray fire cost $4.5-billion, according to a study published in 2020.

The costs of B.C.’s latest calamity will rank among the highest in Canada’s history. And while next year’s weather may bring a reprieve to the battered province, climate heating is all about likelihood and intensity. Once-a-century storms start happening every decade. Extremes get more extreme.

B.C.’s terrible year needs to be a clarion call for all governments – Ottawa, the provinces, municipalities. Our planet’s atmosphere is changing. We caused it. The effects will be myriad, and unrelenting. And we’re not ready.

It is very clear that the whole world is in trouble.  There are obviously forces involved over which we have little or no control.  Just who or what is steering the space ship earth?

Who Really Controls the World?

From New Dawn Special Issue 18 (December 2011)

Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organised, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.
– Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States (1856-1924)

So you see, my dear Coningsby, that the world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes.
– Benjamin Disraeli, British Prime Minister
(1804-1881)

The advent of the industrial revolution, the invention of a banking system based on usury, and scientific and technological advancements during the past three centuries have had three major consequences. These have made the incredible concentration of wealth in a few hands possible, have led to the construction of increasingly deadly weapons culminating in weapons of mass destruction, and have made it possible to mould the minds of vast populations by application of scientific techniques through the media and control of the educational system.

The wealthiest families on planet earth call the shots in every major upheaval that they cause. Their sphere of activity extends over the entire globe, and even beyond, their ambition and greed for wealth and power knows no bounds, and for them, most of mankind is garbage – “human garbage.” It is also their target to depopulate the globe and maintain a much lower population compared to what we have now.

It was Baron Nathan Mayer de Rothschild (1840-1915) who once said: “I care not what puppet is placed on the throne of England to rule the British Empire on which the sun never sets. The man that controls Britain’s money supply controls the British Empire, and I control the British money supply.” What was true of the British Empire is equally true of the US Empire, controlled remotely by the London based Elite through the Federal Reserve System. Judged by its consequences, the Federal Reserve System is the greatest con job in human history.

It is sad and painful that man’s most beautiful construction, and the source of most power and wealth on earth, viz. scientific knowledge – the most sublime, most powerful and most organised expression of man’s inherent gift of thought, wonder and awe – became a tool for subjugation of humanity, a very dangerous tool in the hands of a tiny group of men. These men “hire” the scientist and take away, as a matter of right, the power the scientist creates through his inventions. This power is then used for their own purposes, at immense human and material cost to mankind. The goal of this handful of men, the members of the wealthiest families on the planet, the Elite, is a New World Order, a One World Government, under their control.

Secrecy and anonymity is integral to the operations of the Elite as is absolute ruthlessness, deep deception and the most sordid spying and blackmail. The Elite pitches nations against each other, and aims at the destruction of religion and other traditional values, creates chaos, deliberately spreads poverty and misery, and then usurps power placing its stooges in place. These families “buy while the blood is still flowing in the streets” (Rothschild dictum). Wars, “revolutions” and assassinations are part of their tactics to destroy traditional civilisation and traditional religions (as in Soviet Russia), amass wealth and power, eliminate opponents, and proceed relentlessly towards their avowed goal, generation after generation. They operate through covert and overt societies and organisations.  (read the full article Here: Source

It is hard to for most people to wrap their heads around the fact that those who rule the world desire to see the entire civilization destroyed.  Wiped off the face of the earth.  In fact, they would like to destroy the earth and start new.

They are convinced that the ONLY way to create their New World is to bring the entire earth into TOTAL CHAOS!  They believe the manner in which this can be accomplished is to promote everything that is evil, disgusting, vile and offensive.  They are working hard to cause division, anger, frustration and war!!

The hardest thing for people to believe is that this a battle between GOD and the DEVIL, between GOOD and EVIL.  The devil is working hard to convince mankind that there is no GOD, and that even if there is man does not need him.  He is planting hatred for GOD in the hearts of man and showing mankind that they can not only do just fine without GOD but that they can BE GOD.
In their pride they believe that can do better than GOD.  “WE WILL BULD BACK BETTER” is their cry.

QUESTION

Does Satan have the power to control the weather?

ANSWER

The increasing number of natural disasters and terrible storms have many people wondering, who controls the weather, God or Satan? Some point to the descriptions of Satan as the “prince of the power of the air” in Ephesians 2:2 and the “god of this world in 2 Corinthians 4:4 as evidence for Satan having control over weather. An examination of Scripture reveals that whatever influence Satan and his demon angels have over the weather is restricted by God’s ultimate sovereignty. The Devil, our “adversary,” must be taken seriously; we should acknowledge his existence and his limited power over the secular world. At the same time, Satan, a defeated fallen angel, is super-human but not divine, having only the power that God ultimately allows (2 Thessalonians 2:6-11).

If Satan could impact the weather, it would only be by God’s permission, and restrained, as in the case of Job. Satan was allowed by God to torment Job in order to test him, and this included “the fire of God” (probably lightning) which “fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants” (Job 1:16). This was followed by a “mighty wind” (possibly a tornado) that destroyed his eldest son’s home and killed Job’s children (verses 18-19). So if the fire from heaven and the tornado were somehow caused by Satan, they were still under the ultimate control of God for His purposes.

It is God, not Satan, who controls the weather (Exodus 9:29Psalm 135:6-7Jeremiah 10:13).
God controls the skies and the rain (Psalm 77:16-19).
God controls the wind (Mark 4:35-41Jeremiah 51:16).
God upholds and sustains the universe (Hebrews 1:3).
God has power over the clouds (Job 37:11-1216).
God has power over lightning (Psalm 18:14).
God has power over all nature (Job 26).

God is in control of all things, including the weather. Through His providence, God provides for and protects His children, but He also permits Satan, demons, and mankind to exercise their limited will to commit acts of sin, evil, and wickedness. These same beings are fully responsible for any and all man-made disasters and tragedies they cause. We know that God has ordained whatsoever comes to pass (Ephesians 1:11Romans 11:36), and therefore His invisible hand is in our pain, even though He cannot sin or be the perpetrator of evil (James 1:13-17).

There can be no meaningless suffering for the believer, whether the suffering is caused by mankind or by a natural event. We may not always know why evil acts or natural disasters happen, but we can be assured that in all our trials and tribulations God is working all things together for His glory and for our everlasting good (Romans 8:18-28).

Satan is the god of this world and he is the prince of the power of the air.  His powers are limited though.  He can bestow gifts and power on his worshipers.  He can cause problems for people. However, GOD maintains ultimate control.  GOD determines what will and will not be.  God says the is the SMITH and he CREATES the fire.  What does a Smith use the fire for when working with metal??  He uses the fire to heat the metal so that he can shape it and mold it into something useful and/or something beautiful.  That is what GOD does.  He allows the tests, trials and problems in our lives in order to shape us into who we will ultimate become.  GOD has a plan for you.  A plan to bless you, prosper you and to see you walk in all HIS best for YOU!
Over the last 50 years, God has been creating circumstances in your life, and in the earth around you meant to cause you to turn to HIM.  I have seen HIM touch so many people.  I have watched the earth being robbed of life, of blessing, of peace.  I have witnessed people who recognize HIS HAND is all of this turn their lives around.  I have also seen people harden their hearts and turn to the deceitfulness of this world for their answers.  Which will you be?

End of the world: 10 Biblical plagues on Earth spark claims ‘we’re living in Exodus’

THE END OF THE WORLD could soon be upon us as evidence of the 10 plagues warned in the Bible could show they have already hit Earth, raising fears that “we are living in Exodus.”

Boris Johnson delivers press conference on Omicron variant

According to biblical interpretations, the story is physical, spiritual and prophetic to what will happen again during the End Times, before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Biblical scholar Michael Snyder says there are currently 10 plagues hitting Earth simultaneously.

Writing for Technical Politics, he claimed: “So far in 2020, it has just been one thing after another, and many are speculating about what could be ahead if events continue to escalate.”

And some seem to agree with him, sharing their thoughts on Twitter.

One wrote: “Feel like I’m living in Exodus before the Pharaoh finally agrees to let the Israelites go.”

Another added: “What is happening now was warned in the Bible.”

And a third claimed: “Someone check Exodus for me and figure out what Moses is going to do next.”

But, there is an explanation for the plagues and physical evidence of their presence on Earth.

To unleash the first plague upon the Egyptians, Moses struck the River Nile with his staff, turning its waters to blood.

The text reads: “The fish in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, so that the Egyptians could not drink water.”

The sudden appearance of red-hued waters in the Nile has been reported for centuries since and is believed to be caused by a red algae bloom.

This phenomenon is known as “red tide” when it happens in oceans, but red algae are also well-represented in freshwater ecosystems.

For the second plague, Moses allegedly conjured vast quantities of frogs that swarmed into people’s homes – even finding their way into the Egyptians’ beds, ovens and cookware.

The phenomenon of “raining frogs” has been seen multiple times throughout history, most recently in May 2010 in Greece, where thousands of frogs emerged from a lake in the northern part of the country, likely in search of food, and disrupted traffic for days.

The third plague, lice, may have been caused by the toxic algal bloom and presence of dead frogs, according to scientists.

Lice and fleas can transmit the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which causes bubonic plague that is currently sweeping across China.

Most commonly, people interpret the fourth plague to mean wild animals such as venomous snakes or scorpions, or even lions or bears.

However, according to academics J.S. Marr and C.D. Malloy, the fourth plague represents a swarm of flies, similar to those that caused havoc in Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland, last week.

The fifth plague called down on Egypt was a mysterious and highly contagious disease that swiftly killed off the Egyptians’ livestock.

This biblical scourge is reminiscent of a real plague known as rinderpest, an infectious and lethal viral disease that decimated populations of cattle and other ruminants across Africa and Europe from the 18th through to the late 19th centuries.

Shortly after the Egyptians’ livestock died off, they were distracted by the sixth plague — an extremely uncomfortable plague of boils that covered their bodies.

An outbreak of the highly infectious disease smallpox, which caused distinctive raised blisters, could result in a large number of people simultaneously coming down with rashes and welts.

The last outbreak of smallpox in the world reportedly occurred in the UK in 1978.

The seventh plague brought a heavy hail accompanied by thunder and streaming fire.

The chaotic weather struck down people, livestock and trees, although the area of Goshen, where the Israelites lived, was spared.

It is thought to have occurred due to a nearby volcanic eruption about 3,500 years ago on Santorini.

This week, Indonesia’s Sinabung volcano burst into life, unleashing an avalanche of scorching clouds down its slope.

When the Pharaoh once again refuses to let the Jewish people go, hungry locusts descend as the eighth plague.

Moses warns the Pharaoh: “They shall cover the surface of the land, so that no one will be able to see the land.

“Such a pestilence would devour all the remaining plants that the hail did not destroy.”

This year East Africa has seen the worst swarm of locusts in a century, causing devastating environmental and health problems and experts fear they could get worse.

The plague of darkness – Moses’ ninth disaster – may have been a solar eclipse or a cloud of volcanic ash, scholars say.

Coronavirus: Torah warned of pandemic claims scholar Glazerson

According to the Old Testament, a darkness so thick that “people could not see one another” descended on Egypt for three days,” but the “Israelites enjoyed light in their dwellings”.

Perhaps the darkness coincided with an eclipse on March 5, 1223BC. Eclipses have continued between two and five times every year since.

In the tenth and last plague, Moses tells the Pharaoh that all the firstborns in the land of Egypt will perish.

Scientists argue that the algal bloom that turns the rivers blood red releases mycotoxins, poisonous substances that can cause disease and death in humans, according to a 2003 review in the journal Clinical Microbiology Reviews.

The firstborn might have been the first to pick the grain and would have fallen victim to it first as well.

‘STILL YOU HAVE NOT RETURNED TO ME’

These are among the most frightening and shocking words found in Scripture:

Chatting online with some old friends in Europe the other day I mentioned that for all the global upheaval of the Covid virus, I have not seen much evidence that people are flocking to the Lord as a result. Sometimes a calamity or a disaster or some life-altering experience can have that sort of impact, but from my limited vantage point I am not seeing very many indications of this.

I have written about this before of course. Very early on during the Covid outbreak I discussed whether God might be using this in part as divine judgment to get our attention, and to get us to repent, flee from our sins, and turn to him:  billmuehlenberg.com/2020/03/20/plagues-panic-and-providence/

I said that it could be, but we cannot say for sure. God certainly has used various disasters in the past in this way. And more recently I looked at some passages from the book of Revelation where we are repeatedly told that despite the judgments of God, the unrepentant still refuse to repent! billmuehlenberg.com/2021/06/28/corona-judgment-and-our-response/

Well those are not the only such verses on this matter. Reading again today in the book of Amos I came upon the same thing – this time in relation to the people of Israel. God brought upon the people various plagues and calamities yet the people still did not return to the Lord. For a general introduction and overview of the book, see here: billmuehlenberg.com/2021/09/18/bible-study-helps-amos/

What I want to discuss here is the following passage: Amos 4:6-13. It says this:

I gave you empty stomachs in every city
and lack of bread in every town,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.I also withheld rain from you
when the harvest was still three months away.
I sent rain on one town,
but withheld it from another.
One field had rain;
another had none and dried up.
People staggered from town to town for water
but did not get enough to drink,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord. Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards,
destroying them with blight and mildew.
Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.
I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.I overthrew some of you
as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire,
yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord. Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel,
and because I will do this to you, Israel,
prepare to meet your God.”He who forms the mountains,
who creates the wind,
and who reveals his thoughts to mankind,
who turns dawn to darkness,
and treads on the heights of the earth—
the Lord God Almighty is his name.

Wow, strong words! Here it is made quite clear that such natural disasters were not just random occurrences or mere accidents, but the direct and willful results of the hand of God on a sinful and rebellious people. As Amos had stated a chapter earlier (Amos 3:6b), “When disaster comes to a city, has not the Lord caused it?

But the amazing thing is this: once again, the people did not turn from their sin. They did not repent. They refused to listen to what God was trying to say to them. The covenant curses of Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28 would/should have been very well known to the people. While obedience brings blessing, disobedience brings curses. And those chapters made it clear that natural disasters, war and the like would be the means God uses to judge his wayward people.

Let me draw upon just one commentator here. A lengthy part of the commentary on this passage by Gary Smith is worth running with. He asks, “Why does God send troubles?” and then says this:

When one hears about people losing their business in a tornado, farmers having their crops destroyed by a flood, or the burning of homes in a wild forest fire, it is hard to understand why these things happen. In the end, few people in the church today can ever fully know the reasons for these kinds of events. But Amos records five cases (4:6-11) where God himself planned and brought disasters on his people for a specific purpose. These verses emphasize that God was and still is sovereignly in control over nature (rain, wind, and heat), animals (locusts), and historical events (wars). These “natural disasters” are really “acts of God” that do not just happen by the chance blowing of high-pressure weather systems or accidental political mistakes.

Believers need to see the presence of God’s hand in the circumstances that surround them. This does not mean that every problem is caused by God, for Job 1-2 indicates that Satan is hard at work trying to tear down believers, and evil people have freedom to sin. Nevertheless, God can use evil deeds to bring glory to himself and growth in the hearts of his people. His purposes may sometimes be unknown, but his acts can be a means of bringing people to their knees.

In Amos’ case God brought these difficulties on the Israelites in order to cause them to turn from their sinful worship and come back to him (4:6–11). “God wanted his people to approach their worship with a fresh vitality and turn to him for mercy and help. Since we usually do not know what God’s reasoning is in sending problems into people’s lives today, it is impossible to suggest that difficulties have come into a person’s life because of sin. Yet in spite of our limited knowledge, it is always appropriate for us to examine our lives and to turn to God for wisdom, strength, and grace. If we refuse to do so he will probably deal with us in the same way he dealt with the Israelites.

If the church and its members are repeatedly unwilling to respond positively to God, he has only two options available: send another plague to wake us up and motivate us to turn to God, or give up on the possibility of change and bring judgment. The book of Jonah is an example of how God pursues a rebellious prophet to transform his behavior, while Romans 1:18–32 describes how God gives some people over to their evil desires and depraved minds because they purposely reject the revelation they have received. A stubborn unwillingness to listen to God will inevitably lead to judgment.

As Smith reminds us, and as I have often said, care is needed today when disaster strikes. We do not have the same sure prophetic word that ancient Israel had back then. Indeed, the very next verse to follow the one I mentioned above says this: “Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7).  (Today we don’t need to have a prophet to hear God for us.  We have the PRECIOUS HOLY SPIRIT living inside of each one who receives him.  God says that the HOLY SPIRIT will lead us and guide us and he will lead us to ALL TRUTH! What an amazing source of knowledge and POWER!  Right inside of us!  The very SPIRIT OF GOD!)

It would be terrific if we had the same thing happening today, where we have the divine, inerrant word on everything that befalls us, be it a flat tire on the way to work or a major earthquake or tsunami. But we don’t. However, we do have enough of God’s sure word in the form of the Bible.

There is enough material there in general, as well as what we find in places like Amos 4 in particular, to help us to realise that God very much is concerned about both his people and those who do not know him. He is quite capable of using natural disasters and things like that to try to get our attention, to wake us up, to get us to reconsider our course, and so on.

The real issue is this: Will we allow God to do so? Or will we remain hardhearted, closing our ears to anything that God has to say to us? The verses in Revelation that speak about folks refusing to repent after God brings upon the earth his just judgments are shocking to read.

But so too here when those who should have known better – God’s own people – are sent divine chastisement and punishment, yet they still refuse to turn to God. Five times in just six verses (Amos 4:6, 8, 9, 10, 11) Yahweh said this of Israel, “yet you did not return to me”.

That should get every single one of us to sit up and take notice. If God can use such strong medicine on his own people, we all better wake up and wake up fast. Whether Covid is the direct and deliberate judgment of God on a sinful people can be debated.

But what cannot be debated is that God’s patience and mercy will not continue forever. Those who refuse to listen to God and turn from their wicked ways WILL face judgment – if not now, then soon enough. I close with some remarks by R. C. Sproul that I have often used. His comments on Romans 1 are just the thing we all need to take to heart:

We hear all the time about God’s infinite grace and mercy. I cringe when I hear it. God’s mercy is infinite insofar as it is mercy bestowed upon us by a Being who is infinite, but when the term infinite is used to describe his mercy rather than his person, I have problems with it because the Bible makes very clear that there is a limit to God’s mercy. There is a limit to his grace, and he is determined not to pour out his mercy on impenitent people forever. There is a time, as the Old Testament repeatedly reports, particularly in the book of the prophet Jeremiah, that God stops being gracious with people, and he gives them over to their sin.

I had to look up Rome, Oregon for myself.  Here is what I found.

The community of Rome in Malheur County received its name from the imposing nearby formations of fossil-bearing clay that look like Roman ruins. The 100-foot high formations, which are also known as the “Pillars of Rome,” measure about five miles long and two miles wide.

These strange white bluffs, stand near the Owyhee crossing and were a landmark to pioneers traveling the Oregon Trail reminding them of the structures of ancient Rome.
