TODAY, I am all about giving thanks. Thanks that I was blessed to be born and raised in the United States of AMERICA, during its most glorious years. Able to raise my children and see them happy, loved and with children of their own. All of us living free. Free to enjoy life and to pursue whatever we were lead to, without interference. We have enjoyed the right to worship GOD freely, and to share our faith with others. I have been blessed to see God allow me and my children after me, to be part of HIS WORK in the earth. There is no greater JOY.
Sadly today, I realize that we are seeing the end of the United States of America. The selfish pride and woeful neglect of our citizens have allowed evil to grow to where it is now, overwhelming.
I pray that you will take some time with me, to reminisce, and appreciate living in the USA.
Today, I want to remember the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, as I have known it. I would like to share with you, some songs and images that remind us of how blessed we have been in this country. Let us enjoy these freedoms, while they are still available to us.
You probably have never heard the whole story of the inspiration for our Nation’s Anthem. I know that I had never heard it. It is a wonderful story. I hope you take the time to listen to it.
Star Spangled Banner As You’ve Never Heard It

This short video, was a real blessing to me. Sergeant Benavidez shared some things from his heart from which all of us can benefit.

I have always loved this song from Lee Greenwood. It is even more meaningful to me now. Nostalgic already. I will ALWAYS BE PROUD that I AM an AMERICAN CITIZEN. AND, I will ALWAYS thank GOD for our men and women in the military, who sacrifice so much for our sake. They are the most abused and least appreciated people on earth. Keep them in your prayers.
Kate not only does an excellent rendition of this song, she was the FIRST person to ever sing it. This is a restored and colorized version of the original film made of her premiere performance of the song. Included in the video below is a short prelude to the song that I had never heard before. ENJOY.

I selected this video because it had the best photos of America to go along with the lyrics. I have always loved this song. I thought it should have been the National Anthem. Though now that I know the whole story connected to the Star Spangled Banner, I understand. Still, this is a beautiful tribute to our Nation.
America the Beautiful By Katharine Lee Bates, 1913
O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! O beautiful for pilgrim feet, Whose stern impassion’d stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness! America! America! God mend thine ev’ry flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law! |
O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife, Who more than self their country loved, And mercy more than life! America! America! May God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness, And ev’ry gain divine!
O Beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam, Undimmed by human tears! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, Till selfish gain no longer stain The banner of the free! |
